My name is Joanna, a Mother and a certified sleep consultant. 

With a background of health and fitness, I am extremely passionate about the health and well-being of others. Becoming a mother wasn’t something I found easy and it was very clear that despite how much I tried to prepare myself, I felt very much in the unknown about a lot of things, especially when it came to my baby’s sleep. I would research online, ask family and friends, read books, but nothing was helping and I suddenly found myself feeling even more lost. I then realised I wasn’t the only one feeling this way. I was surrounded by many parents and new mothers who also didn’t have the answer to their baby’s sleep and that’s when I thought to myself, something needs to be done about this. There needs to be more information available and I want to be that person who can help other parents who are feeling lost, sleep deprived, in the unknown who just simply can’t find the answers and don’t know what to do anymore.

So I decided to train as a certified sleep consultant to really understand the science of sleep, the benefits, the affects of lack of sleep, child and baby sleep so that I could help those who really need it. With the support from training tutor I of course implemented my training to my own son’s sleep and within days we noticed a difference! He was a completely different baby and so much happier. I just used to say to people ‘oh my son cries all the time’ and he was crying because he was just so tired and couldn’t find the energy to do anything! With all the knowledge I had learned it was very easy to notice the mistakes I was making and actually how much I didn’t know about how much sleep he needed.

I then created Solo Sleep Consultancy which is for baby child sleep, but also for adult and family care.

Solo means to do something alone or independently.
As sleep is a learned skill, we teach babies/ children to learn how to fall asleep independently. Now I don’t mean I will tell you to put your child in a room, lock the door, throw away the key and wait until they fall asleep!! What I mean is, using gentle methods, we teach infants the skill of falling asleep independently without the help of something or someone (Solo).

We recognise that every child is unique and independent (Solo), therefore will need a solution that is suitable for them as well as your whole family.

Solo was also created for those who are feeling ‘so low’ because of perhaps sleep deprivation. I want to ensure you that we are here just as much for your health and wellbeing as well as your child’s sleep and wellbeing.
